Antique Victorian Lava Cameo 18 karat Gold Earrings

In the mid 19th century there was a great influx of travellers throughout Europe. A souvenir industry was needed , and as the travellers were mainly rich the quality of these souvenirs was always high, In Italy they came up with Lava Cameos , supposedly from the lava in the region of Pompei. They are always high quality high relief Cameos.
Here we have a pair of earrings with what seems like the image of Maria , The Cameo is set in 18 karat Gold with clear French Hallmarks.
The closure is not the original one it is a Hanging Clip closure. It can be changed to something else which can be discussed. on the cameo itself above the head there is gold work in the shape of a crown.
The Earrings are 1.5 inches long – 33 mm
3/4 of an inch wide -21 mm.
